'Everyone is a moral police': Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri on viral video of ‘ignoring’ Dharna Durga during 'Maa Behen' promotions
A promotional event for the upcoming Netflix film 'Maa Behen' recently became the centre of social media discussion after a video featuring Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri and Dharna Durga went viral online. The clip showed Dharna seemingly being asked to step aside while photographers focused on Madhuri and Triptii. The brief moment quickly gained traction on social media, with some users interpreting it as an instance where the influencer-actor was sidelined during the event. While several people criticised the situation and questioned why the senior actors did not intervene, others argued that such incidents are not uncommon at promotional gatherings where photographers often prioritise the most recognisable stars.

Triptii Dimri on constant online scrutiny

Addressing the controversy, Triptii Dimri dismissed suggestions that there was any intentional slight towards her co-star. Speaking to India Today about the growing tendency to dissect every public appearance, the actress admitted that she has become accustomed to controversies surfacing whenever one of her projects nears release.“Whenever I have a film nowadays it happens that when something is about to be released, I am scared of being happy.
I ask myself, what will they pick this time? What will they create now?” she said sarcastically. The actress further revealed that she initially believed the promotions of 'Maa Behen' would remain free from unnecessary online chatter.“I thought, what will they find in this film? There is nothing. They can’t say anything this time. But they did get hold of something. Some people will go on to do it every time; we can't help it,” she added.

Madhuri Dixit says everyone has become a critic

Madhuri Dixit also weighed in on the discussion, reflecting on how social media has transformed public discourse. According to the veteran actor, criticism and judgment have always existed, but digital platforms have amplified every opinion.Comparing the current environment to the 1990s, Madhuri noted that people now have an instant platform to express their views on virtually everything. “There were people [like that] even then, but they didn’t have a way to express. Today we have that channel; everyone is expressing these days. Everyone is a filmmaker, everyone is a fashionista, and everyone is moral police.”

'Maa Behen' set for Netflix release

Directed by Suresh Triveni, 'Maa Behen' features Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri and Dharna Durga in pivotal roles. The dark comedy revolves around a mother and her daughters whose lives are thrown into chaos after a dead body unexpectedly enters their home. The film is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on June 4 and has already generated considerable buzz ahead of its release, both for its unusual storyline and the conversations surrounding its promotional campaign.
