After its theatrical run, ‘The Housemaid’, which is based on the best-selling novel of the same name, became an instant success. The psychological thriller that stars Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, and Brandon Sklenar is now set to make its debut on OTT in India. The film will be available on multiple platforms. ‘The Housemaid’ will be available on OTT platforms in India from February 12. The film will be available across Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google, YouTube Movies, and BookMyShow Stream. The rental price starts at Rs. 499. Alongside these platforms, the film will also be released on Moviesphere+.

‘The Housemaid’ storyline

‘The Housemaid’ is based on Freida McFadden’s best-selling 2022 novel.

The story follows Millie, played by Sydney Sweeney, a young woman trying to escape a troubled past. She takes up a live-in job as a housemaid for Nina and Andrew Winchester, portrayed by Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar. What begins as a fresh start soon turns unsettling as secrets inside the house slowly surface, putting Millie in danger.


Apart from Sweeney, Seyfried, and Sklenar, the film also stars Michele Morrone as Enzo, the Winchesters’ groundskeeper who becomes Millie’s ally. Elizabeth Perkins appears in a key role in the R-rated thriller.

Will there be a sequel to ‘The Housemaid’?

Lionsgate has already confirmed a sequel titled The Housemaid’s Secret. Announcing the next chapter, Adam Fogelson, chairperson of Lionsgate’s motion picture group, said, “It’s clear from both the global box office and from the outpouring on social media that audiences have responded strongly, and audibly, to the totally unique and truly theatrical experience of The Housemaid and want to know what happens next.”


So, it’s clear that after the wild and thrilling journey, ‘The Housemaid’ is set to return with a sequel.
