​The Crown Season 6: True life events to expect from the FINAL SEASON

The first look images from the much-anticipated sixth and final season of 'The Crown' are here, making the wait for November 17 seem excruciatingly long. This season promises to deliver a captivating narrative, shedding light on significant events in the lives of the British royal family. From the tragic death of Princess Diana to the Queen's monumental Golden Jubilee celebration and even the budding romance between Prince William and Kate Middleton, Season 6, Part 1 and Part 2 are poised to provide a compelling look into history with some minor modifications.

​Diana's last holiday with William and Harry​

The first six-episode instalment will reportedly delve into Princess Diana's relationship with Dodi Al-Fayed while on a family yacht trip to Saint Tropez. The trip is believed to be the last holiday that Diana, spent with her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. The young princes had been on vacation with their mother as guests of Al-Fayed family in the summer of 1997. Prince Harry had confirmed in an interview that William and he hadn't seen their mother for weeks before her passing owing to work commitments. At the time, the boys were reportedly on holiday with their dad when they got the shocking news.

​The Golden Jubilee​

In 2002, the Golden Jubilee marked the 50th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne. While this joyful celebration will be referenced, 'The Crown' has never shied away from depicting challenging periods in history. Therefore, viewers can expect mentions of events such as the end of Bill Clinton's presidency, the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and the Iraq war.

​The Death of Princess Diana​

The first part of 'The Crown' Season 6 is set to explore the heartbreaking tragedy of Princess Diana's death in August 1997. The first stills from the show also feature an image of Elizabeth Debicki as Diana and Khalid Abdalla as Dodi in a car while in Paris. The production team confirmed that the recreation of the Princess' death has been done 'delicately and thoughtfully' as it aimed to approach this poignant moment with the utmost care. Suzanne Mackie, an executive producer, assured audiences that the portrayal of this tragedy will respect the sensitivity of the circumstances.

William and Harry's holiday in Scotland

A separate image depicts a recreation of Harry and William on their 1997 vacation to Balmoral Castle with their father Charles. The boys were in Scotland, to spend time with their father and other members of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth when they got a phone call stating that the Princess had died.

​Wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles​

The love story of King Charles and Queen Camilla will continue to be a central theme in 'The Crown'. The show's creator, Peter Morgan, revealed that the show would touch upon Charles and Camilla's wedding when a photo of the wedding hymn card was posted on the show's official handles. In his book 'Spare', Harry suggested that he and William did not want his father, and Camilla to marry in 2005. With Netflix confirming that the wedding will be depicted, it raises speculation that it may show their feelings about the marriage.

​Mohamed Al-Fayed facing racism​

The series is set to explore the complexities of the events that unfolded after the deaths of Diana and Dodi in a car crash. According to reports, the show will also see Salim Daw's character Mohamed Al-Fayed going through a troubling time while dealing with the death of his son. Audiences will witness significant moments that followed the tragic car crash, including Prince Charles's arrival on a royal flight to bring Diana's body back to London and Mohamed Al-Fayed experiencing casual racism from the French authorities when receiving his son's casket.

​Prince William and Kate Middleton's love story​

Fans of 'The Crown' will be delighted to witness the start of Prince William and Kate Middleton's love story. The series will retrace the royal couple's journey from their first meeting at St Andrew's University to becoming an official couple. Additionally, Prince Harry's university years, played by Luther Ford, will also be depicted, offering viewers a glimpse of his life before heading out on his military duty.

Things you won't see on 'The Crown'

Regrettably, the sixth season will conclude with the tragic car crash that took the lives of Princess Diana, Dodi Al-Fayed, and their driver Henri Paul on August 31, 1997. Netflix has stated that the exact moment of the crash impact will not be shown in the series. The series will also not feature any other royal deaths, Harry and Megan's love story, or even the scandals that broke out within the royal family as the makers chose to end the show in the early 2000s. The makers previously also stated that they did not want to write about royals in the modern day.
