“Food Inspector Suspended and Fined ₹53,000 for Wasting 21 Lakh Liters of Water at Paralkot Dam”

The Water Resources Department has ordered a food inspector in Pakhajanjoor, Kanker district, who caused the release of 21 lakh liters of water from the Paralkot Dam, to pay a fine of ₹53,000. The order was issued by the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Water Resources Department, instructing the food inspector to deposit the amount within 10 days.The incident occurred when the food inspector, Rajesh Vishwas, accidentally dropped his mobile phone worth ₹1 lakh into the dam during a picnic. In an attempt to retrieve it, he operated a pump, resulting in the wastage of 21 lakh liters of water. After the matter came to light, Collector Priyanka Shukla suspended Rajesh Vishwas, and a notice was issued to the SDO of the Water Resources Department for an explanation.
