Delhi floods: AAP leader Atishi slams Haryana government for 'callous' handling of Hathnikund barrage water release

Delhi PWD Minister Atishi criticized the BJP-led Haryana government for releasing a large amount of water from the Hathnikund barrage towards Delhi. She said that all the water from the barrage was being released only for Delhi, and that not a single drop of water was being released into the canals that go to Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. She added that Haryana would have to answer for this. Atishi said that the Haryana government was deliberately withholding water from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana in order to cause flooding in Delhi. She accused the Haryana government of playing politics with water, and she demanded that they release water to the other states. Atishi's criticism comes after the Yamuna River overflowed its banks in Delhi, causing flooding in several areas of the city. The flooding has displaced thousands of people and caused widespread damage to property. Atishi said that the flooding in Delhi is starting to recede, and that people will soon start to get some relief. The fact that the waste drains are also starting to drain out is also a positive sign. "I hope that the flooding situation continues to improve in the next 12 hours, and that people in Delhi can start to get back to their normal lives", Minister added.
