Woman forced to carry husband on shoulders, beaten for eloping

A married woman in Madhya Pradehs’s tribal Jhabua was forced to carry her husband on her shoulders. This was punishment meted out by community elders for eloping with her lover. Videos of a mob jeering and beating her up went viral, after which police arrested those involved.
