This autistic teenager is a swimming prodigy, breaking world records

Meet 13-year-old Jiya Rai, a para-athlete from Mumbai who just broke the world record and became the fastest female swimmer to swim between Talaimanna, Sri Lanka and Dhanushkodi in Tamil Nadu. The autistic teenager covered the 29 km stretch in just 13 hours and 10 minutes to set the record. Palk Strait (Gulf of Munnar) is one of the toughest sea routes in the world. In her national, state and open water sea swimming career, Jiya has won 24 gold medals and one silver medal up till now. She is the daughter of an Indian Navy sailor, her proud father now says that Jiya’s next target is the Olympics.
