Russian Town Evacuated After Series Of Explosions; 50-km Gas Pipeline Shut After Fiery Explosions
A massive fire erupted in Russia's Dagestan Republic after at least three explosions tore through a major gas pipeline in the town of Kyzylyurt. Towering flames reportedly reached up to 15 meters into the air, lighting up the sky and triggering a large-scale emergency response. Authorities quickly shut off gas supplies to the affected section, while firefighters battled the blaze fueled by residual gas trapped inside the pipeline. More than 1,400 residents were evacuated from around 250 nearby homes as a precaution. Officials said no casualties were reported in the initial assessment, but a 50-kilometer stretch of the pipeline remains shut down. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident may have been caused by a depressurization of the pipeline.
