Odisha rejoices as state rasagola gets GI tag

Odisha got a Geographical Indication tag for its rasagola from the Chennai-based Geographical Indications Registry, marking a sweet spot in its fight to create a separate space for itself on the national culinary map. The tag is applicable for the Odisha rasagola that is clearly distinguishable from the similar sweet made in neighbouring West Bengal, the Banglar Rosogolla. The GI tag is the result of four years of hard work by the Naveen Patnaik government to prove the sweet originated in Odisha.
