Opposition parties have named Meira Kumar their nominee for the Presidential election. Meira Kumar is a former Lok Sabha Speaker, she was the first woman to occupy the post. Meira Kumar was announced as the opposition candidate by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in a meeting of 17 opposition parties.
