Manali-Spiti highway reopens, tourists enjoy adventurous trip through snow-laden landscape

The Manali-Spiti road was opened for vehicular traffic at the end of June, after a delay of over over a month, as very heavy snowfall this year meant the road clearing operations took much longer. The road was opened after the BRO cleared snow from the 14,000-feet high Kunzum pass. The 140-km Kaza-Gramphoo stretch of the road is shut in October every year due to snowfall. The road clearing operations begin in March and the road is generally opened by May.
