Kerala: RSS Worker Dies By Suicide After BJP Denies Local Body Poll Ticket In Thiruvananthapuram

An RSS worker from Thrikkannapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, Anand Thampi, died by suicide on Saturday evening after allegedly being denied a BJP ticket for upcoming local body elections. Thampi, 32, shared a suicide note with friends on WhatsApp before being found hanging at his residence around 5:20 PM. In the note, he accused several BJP and RSS leaders, including ward candidate Vinod Kumar and others, of involvement in a “soil mafia” and alleged harassment that pushed him beyond endurance. He had hoped to contest as a BJP candidate, later considered standing independently. His death triggers fresh controversy ahead of elections, adding to a pattern of recent RSS-BJP linked suicides. Poojappura police launch a probe, while BJP state chief calls the incident “very painful.”
