Economic Advisory Council report comes down heavily on ASI

The Economic Advisory Council to the prime minister has submitted its report which came down heavily on the ASI. The EAC tweeted, "India has 3695 monuments declared as Monuments of National Importance (MNI). Since the list of MNI has not been comprehensively reviewed since independence, it has become unwieldy and needs to be immediately scrutinised/rationalised. Allocation of funds for the protection of MNI should be increased. At the same time, revenue streams such as tickets, events, fees and other sources should be leveraged more proactively."
