After China downplayed Sri Lanka’s the critical requests of debt restructuring amid the economic turmoil, former deputy National Security Advisor on August 28 said that India’s has a different approach of dealing with its neighbours. “It's quite remarkable China had such a face to make a statement showing its sympathy with Sri Lanka considering the fact that Sri Lankan economic collapse has largely been due to Chinese policies over the last few years,” he said. “China used Sri Lanka as a pawn in a bigger game. As far as India is concerned we've a relationship with Sri Lanka that goes back in time and we'll continue to pursue it in future. We've a different approach to dealing with our neighbours,” added the former Dy NSA.
