Amarmani Tripathi and his wife released from prison after 20 years

Former minister Amarmani Tripathi and his wife Madhumani, who were convicted in the high-profile Madhumita Shukla murder case in Uttar Pradesh, are scheduled for release from prison today. Their early release is attributed to their good behavior during their incarceration, resulting in a reduction of their sentence as per the Supreme Court's directive. After two decades, both will be freed from Gorakhpur jail. However, the release has met with opposition from Madhumita's sister, Nidhi Shukla.Nidhi Shukla, sister of Madhumita, expressed her dismay over the release of Amarmani Tripathi and his wife through a video statement. She expressed her surprise at the decision made by the Governor. Highlighting the two decades of struggle her family has endured, she earnestly appealed to halt the release and urged that it be postponed until she files a petition in the Court of Contempt.
