Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Puri in a press briefing said that air travel should be affordable for all. The civil aviation minister also said that keeping the middle seat vacant is not an option to follow social distancing. Other measures are taken, hence keeping the middle seat is not an option. Talking about the fare for domestic flights, Hardeep Puri said, “We've set a minimum & a maximum fare. In the case of Delhi, Mumbai the minimum fare would be ₹3,500 for a journey between 90-120 minutes, the maximum fare would be ₹10,000. This is operative for 3 months.” Civil aviation secretary Pradeep Kharola also said, “Earlier Earlier we had a fare bucket system. Now, we have a rider that 40% of seats have to be sold at less than the midpoint of the band.”
