India criticised Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir over his reported “go to Iran” comment directed at Shias, calling it evidence of systemic discrimination. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted a long-standing pattern of persecution that has led to declining minority populations in Pakistan. The controversy unfolds amid regional tensions following the killing of Ali Khamenei, which has already sparked unrest. India also reignited the 1971 debate, rejecting Pakistan’s claim that the Bangladesh Liberation War events are “open to interpretation.” By combining present concerns with historical accountability, India is shaping a broader narrative on human rights and credibility.
