The Supreme Court appointed Delhi high court judge Shiv Narayan Dhingra as head of the three-member special investigation team (SIT) which will re-investigate 186 cases related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Retired IAS officer Rajdeep Singh and IPS officer Avishek Dular will be other two members of the committee. The SIT has been given two months of time to submit its report. The top court will further hear the matter on March 19. Justice Dhingra, as a sessions Judge in Karkardooma court in Delhi, had conducted the trial of anti-Sikh riots cases, including that involving HKL Bhagat.
