Pregnancy and giving birth is a beautiful experience. However, complications during pregnancy can make the journey difficult for some women. According to statistics, 15-20% of pregnancies are high-risk, around the world. Any pregnancy which puts the baby or the mother at risk is called high-risk pregnancy. The chances of a pregnancy turning into a high-risk one also increases with maternal age, certain comorbidities, autoimmune disorders, infertility, having twins or triplets or previous complications associated with the last pregnancy. The chances of having a surgical birth, low birth weight increases for women with a high-risk pregnancy.
