The progressive Move Forward Party has come out on top in Thailand’s general election, giving hope for a change after 9 years of military rule. Led by 42-year-old businessman Pita Limjaroenrat, the party captured over 24% of the vote after most of the 39.5 million ballots were counted. The votes directly elect 400 seats in the House of Representatives. The other 100 seats are allocated according to proportional representation of parties.
