New York hotels turns hotels into shelters for asylum seekers

Some New York hotels that served tourists just a few years ago have become de facto emergency shelters.The latest is the Roosevelt Hotel in midtown Manhattan, which shuttered three years ago amid the pandemic and reopened Friday as a welcome center and shelter for asylum seekers.Migrants can find legal, medical information and resources at the hotel, which currently has 175 rooms for families with children.The city is busing other adult asylum seekers to respite centers.
