ECI Announces Assembly Election Dates For West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala & Puducherry

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the dates for the 2026 assembly elections in five regions: Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal. Voting will begin on 9th April in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry, with Tamil Nadu going to polls on 23rd April and West Bengal in two phases on 23rd and 29th April. Counting for all states and the Union Territory is scheduled for 4th May. The elections are seen as a crucial test for the ruling NDA and the opposition INDIA bloc. Prime Minister Modi recently toured West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, inaugurating projects and campaigning ahead of the polls.
