U.S. president Donald Trump criticised Russian missile strikes on Kyiv as “disgusting,” but expressed uncertainty whether sanctions would truly pressure Vladimir Putin. He also discussed the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, calling it “terrible”, and dispatched Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Ambassador Mike Huckabee to the region to assess aid delivery and finalise a relief plan. Trump blamed Canada’s move toward recognising Palestinian statehood for complicating trade negotiations, warning that completing a trade deal could be “very hard” under current conditions.
