A new exhibit showcasing modern takes on traditional Seminole Indian art opened Friday at the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum on Florida's Big Cypress Indian Reservation. Titled the "Art of Seminole Crafts," the exhibit features pieces including jewelry, dolls, items of clothing and sweetgrass baskets. One piece featured is a bandolier basket by artist Brian Zepeda, who said he is one of two people in the state who have revived the tradition of making the bag, which was worn by Seminole leaders as a symbol of leadership and used to carry medicine and tobacco.
