'Don’t Have Fuel': EU Faces Energy Disruption As Tension Continues Between Iran & U.S.

Europe is now feeling the economic impact of the Iran war, with the European Union revealing that its fossil fuel import bill has surged by more than €22 billion in just 44 days, without any increase in actual energy supply. According to Ursula von der Leyen, the spike reflects the scale of disruption caused by instability in the Gulf, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz — a critical global energy chokepoint. The warning comes as ceasefire talks between the United States and Iran remain stalled following negotiations in Islamabad. While a pause in hostilities had briefly appeared possible, the lack of a breakthrough has kept markets on edge.
