Actress Meera Mitun booked for passing casteist slurs

Model turned actress Meera Mitun has landed into legal trouble after she uploaded a video on August 7 wherein she passed a casteist slur while complaining about a director allegedly stealing her picture and using it for a movie’s first look. Well, as soon as the video made its way to social media, it caused an outrage out there and various forums in Tamil Nadu lodged police complaints against the actor, demanding action against her. Now, a case has been registered after a complaint against her for using a casteist slur. She is booked under sections 153, 153A(1)(a), 505(1)(b), 505 (2) of IPC, and several sections under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. In the video, Meera Mitun uttered a derogatory term used as an insult against the Schedule Caste. She claimed that the people belonging to the scheduled castes are involved in illegal activities and that's why they are facing outrage from the public.
