When the pressure peaked in Livigno, Chloe Kim found calm in an unexpected place. Not in the snow. Not at the top of the halfpipe. But in the crowd, where Myles Garrett stood wearing a bold shirt printed with her smiling face.
The two time Olympic gold medalist added a silver to her resume at the 2026 Winter Olympics, fighting through injury and doubt to reach the podium again. Yet the image that captured fans was not just her run. It was Garrett’s playful show of loyalty, a lighthearted gesture that cut through the tension of elite competition.
Chloe Kim says Myles Garrett’s playful support made a “really intense, stressful” moment lighter
Speaking on CBS Mornings, Chloe Kim shared how much that moment meant when everything felt heavy. “He's the best,” she said, recalling how he showed up in Milan. The Cleveland Browns star wore a zip up layer featuring a massive graphic of Kim’s face from a previous Games. Even Snoop Dogg joined in, sporting outerwear with her image on it.
“It’s so fun that everyone came out for that,” she continued. “It just made a really intense, stressful moment so light and kind of grounded me. Just to remind me why I'm here to begin with, and it's always been my support system, my family.”
Chloe Kim’s silver medal came after a brutal stretch few fans fully saw. She battled burnout, mental health struggles, and a dislocated shoulder with a torn labrum just weeks before competition. She had only eight days back on snow before the Games began. Many expected a historic third straight gold. Instead, she embraced something different. Growth.
“I learned so much about myself,” she said. “I definitely went through a really dark time and jumped through so many hurdles just to get [here].”.
Chloe Kim fell short of gold, edged out by South Korea’s rising star, but perspective replaced disappointment. “I learned to adapt and find the silver lining,” Kim said. “I came out of this a lot stronger.”
Myles Garrett’s shirt may have drawn laughs. But in a season defined by resilience, it symbolized something deeper. In the middle of the world’s biggest stage, Kim remembered she was never riding alone..
