Legendary actor Dilip Kumar recently passed away at the age of 98 in Mumbai, sending shockwaves across the nation with many fans, followers, and well-wishers mourning his demise. The veteran actor breathed his last at Hinduja Hospital in the early hours today. After the doctors declared him dead, his wife Saira Banu was left inconsolable as his mortal remains were taken back to his house. Notably, the departed soul was not keeping well for the past few days and his actress-wife Saira Banu was seen right by his side all these days. Recently, before the actor passed away, Saira Banu in one of the tweets from the official Twitter handle of the late Dilip Kumar, requested prayers and well-wishes for the late actor. She tweeted, 'We are grateful for God's infinite mercy on Dilip Sahib that his health is improving. We are still in hospital and request your prayers and duas so that Insha’Allah he is healthy and discharged soon'. For the unversed, the actor was admitted to the intensive care unit of Hinduja Hospital on June 29 following complaints of breathlessness. He was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion and was even put on oxygen support and was undergoing treatment for the same but succumbed to the illness as confirmed by the doctor treating the veteran actor at the hospital. Earlier, informing about the same, the late actor's family friend Faisal Farooqui took to the actor's official Twitter handle that he and the actor's wife Saira Banu manage and issued a statement that read, 'With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, a few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him, we return. - Faisal Farooqui'. Meanwhile, talking about his work front, Dilip Kumar's career spans over five decades with hits such as 'Mughal-e-Azam', 'Devdas', 'Naya Daur', 'Ram Aur Shyam' and many others. He was last seen in the film 'Qila'.
