It is the oldest Durga Puja in all of North India. Be it the idols of goddess Durga or the pandal, both have been made by artists who came all the way from Kolkata. Similarly, artists from Kolkata have also made and decorated the idol and pandal at the Shri Shri Mall Road Sarvajanin Durga Puja. In order to attract more and more Kanpurites to the Durga puja pandals, the organisers of Durga puja of the Mall Road, Civil Lines, Shastri Nagar, Model Town and other areas, are also organising several cultural programmes. They are also organising competitions for the kids and youngsters including art competitions, dhunuchi dance, Shankh dhwani competitions.
