On October 2, Dr Mark Chavez, one of two doctors charged in connection with Matthew Perry's drug overdose death, pleaded guilty to ketamine distribution. The 54-year-old faces up to 10 years in prison and entered his plea before US District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett. Two others, a live-in assistant and an acquaintance, have already pleaded guilty in the case. Chavez admitted to selling ketamine to Dr Salvador Plasencia from his clinic, who allegedly sold it to Perry at inflated prices. Following his plea, Chavez was released on $50,000 bail and banned from practicing medicine, with sentencing expected in April. Perry's long battle with addiction ended in his shocking death in October 2023, and an autopsy revealed high levels of ketamine in his system. Matthew Perry was best known for his role as Chandler Bing on "Friends" and was taking ketamine as part of supervised therapy at the time of his death.
