Patna: Chemists protest against Centre’s move to regularise e-pharmacies

Following the Centre’s decision to regularise e-pharmacies, chemists in Patna went on a strike to protest against the decision. In addition, to protest the online sale of medicines the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) has called for a nation-wide strike. The AIOCD has opposed the Centre’s decision, stating that e-pharmacies pose a threat to their businesses. On the other hand, the Union Health Ministry has issued draft rules on the sale of drugs by e-pharmacies. The aim is to regulate the online sale of medicines across the country and increase accessibility to medicines through authenticated online portals.
