Brahmins will now be holding a demonstration for reservation for their community in Maharashtra on January 22, 2019. After Maratha and Dhangars, they will now be protesting at Azad Maidan, Mumbai to press for various demands. The Samast Brahmin Samaj, an organisation of Brahmins, will be leading the demonstration. The association has put forward 15 demands, which includes a monthly pension of Rs 5,000 for those performing religious duties. Earlier in December 2018, the government had agreed to 16% reservations for Marathas after violent protests in the state. As of now the total reservation in Maharashtra in 68%.
