The world's largest overhead water tank at Tallah in Kolkata is being restored to its old glory with the help of a special crane designed in France. It took four months just to install the Rs 2 crore crane. The tank, built during the Raj-era, 107 years ago has withstood three earthquakes and a couple of major cyclonic storms but never failed to supply potable water. The deadline for Rs 100-crore restoration project is 2019.
