Kolkata: Doctors stage protest after patient’s kin attack physician at NRS Medical College

Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting that the Bharat Ratna be awarded posthumously to Kanshi Ram, founder of the Bahujan Samaj Party. In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi described Kanshi Ram as a champion of social justice and a guiding force behind the rise of Bahujan consciousness, stating that the Bharat Ratna would honour both the leader and the wider movement that empowered millions of Bahujans. After the letter, the Bharatiya Janata Party criticised Rahul Gandhi, questioning why the Bharat Ratna was not conferred on Kanshi Ram when the Congress party was previously in power.
