Gold bars worth Rs 75 lakh seized from aircraft's toilet at Delhi Airport

Customs officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi recovered three gold bars worth approximately Rs 75 lakh from the toilet of an international flight on April 17. Acting on a tip-off, officers searched the aircraft upon completion of its international journey and found two objects attached to the upper side panel of the starboard side lavatory. Upon removal, they discovered one rectangular gold bar and two irregularly shaped gold bars weighing a combined 1400 grams. The recovered gold bars were valued at Rs 74,92,954. The gold, along with its packaging, has been confiscated under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962. An investigation is ongoing.
