Chandigarh police show some cyclegiri

Chandigarh police’s traffic wing along with a group of cyclists and team of doctors observed world car free day recently. The cops along with other cyclists took part in a cycle rally and covered 10 kms despite heavy rains. The idea behind all this was to promote healthy living besides sensitizing people about using dedicated cycle tracks, running parallel with the main roads. Around 300 people took part in the initiative which also highlighted the idea of cycling in formal outfits/uniform. It was done to remove hesitation from the minds of people who feel going to the office on a bicycle can be a hassle. The UT police has recently created a 16-member cycle squad too.
