At diplomatic level, befitting response to Pakistan has been given. We will respond to Pakistan on its Uri misadventure at multiple levels. Apart from diplomatic offensive which we have already launched, the other aspects will also be taken care of.

Indicating a hardening of resolve within the government, defence minister Manohar Parrikar said on Wednesday that PM Narendra Modi's promise to punish those behind the Uri terror attack would not remain words. "Sometimes I can have a knee jerk reaction too. But we are a responsible nation," he said.

India would not be deterred by Pakistan brandishing nuclear weapons, he added.

Bandipora operation: Security forces surrounded Aragam Chitti Bandi village early on Thursday morning following information about some holed-up militants.

On September 15, the intelligence agencies had alerted the Army about the presence of a group of eight Lashker-e-Taiba terrorists across the LoC in Pakistan, waiting for an opportunity to infiltrate into Uri with specific plans to hit the Army base.

According to intelligence sources, the agencies had noticed the eight as well as another group with mixed terror affiliation hiding in the mountains of Uri, watching the Army base from a height since August 28.

Pakistan's nuclear weapons program is coming under renewed scrutiny and pressure from the United States, Japan, and other aid givers this week even as the country's nervous leaders are rattling their atomic arsenal, fearing retribution from India for the Uri terrorist attack.
