Kitchen Kallakar: Special guest Ashok Saraf on being punctual, working in 500 films, remembering 'Hum Paanch' and much more

Senior actor Ashok Saraf recently marked his presence on the show Kitchen Kallakar with his wife Nivedita Saraf. The host of the show Sankarshan Karhade had a candid chat with the renowned actor about many things. In the recent episode, actress and BFF Nirmiti Sawant graced the show as a special and revealed unknown facts about the veteran actor's life. Take a look.

​Nirmiti Sawant on actor Ashok Saraf being very punctual

Actress Nirmiti Sawant, who has been working with Ashok Saraf for the last few years for their play 'Vaccum cleaner', said that Ashok Saraf has a habit of always being punctual. She said, "Ashok Mama has a habit of reaching the set before the time or else on the time. There was a rehearsal and the call time was 10 am. I reached the set at 10.15 am because of the traffic in Mumbai. I saw Ashok on the set and people told me that he reached at 9.45 am. I said sorry to everyone and decided to reach early tomorrow before Ashok. I reached around 9.45 on the next day and Ashok was already there people told me he reached at 9.30 am. (She laughs) Ashok Saraf has a habit of reaching the set on time."

​Ashok Saraf on work commitment

Ashok Saraf shared that he always prioritizes his work and discusses other things later. He said, "I have done 500 films. I think an actor should first get committed to his work and his art. He should not discuss his whereabouts or personal life issues during work hours. The work hours should be utilized as work hours. We can discuss other things later."

​An actor should take comedy seriously - Ashok Saraf

The veteran actor said, "I think an actor should not take comedy lightly. He should work hard while doing comedy. The acting pace entirely depends on rhythm. I think my film 'Gondhalat Gondhal' was the first one that broke the stereotype of Marathi films. Since then everyone started doing social comedy. 'Hum Paanch' was one of the shows that changed the style of comedy and I feel so blessed. We can only predict what film or project the audience would love but can't promise whether it would surely work at the box office."

Ashok Saraf on celebrating birthdays

Actor Ashok Saraf got emotional on the set of the show and said that he was never interested in celebrating his birthdays. He said, "I was never interested in celebrating my birthday. I am not that person but nowadays people respect me and celebrate my birthdays on shows and television and that makes me emotional."

​Nivedita is there with me and that's all I need - Ashok Saraf

The ace actor also spoke about his better half. He said, "I have gone beyond promises. Nivedita is there with me and that's enough. I can't promise her anything at 75 but Nivedita being there is all that I need."
