"When I came to Mumbai for the first time, I had already faced ups and downs, rejections, hunger" - Manoj Bajpayee

When I went to Delhi for the first time in my life, I was 18 years. It was the period of my life when nothing scared me. I felt like winning everything. But when I came to Mumbai for the first time, I had already faced ups and downs, rejections, hunger. I still remember when my train entered Mumbai, and there were houses of people around the tracks. I felt like I am entering the tunnel but have no idea what I will do next. I was scared. I again stepped back and thought again about my decision. That time in Mumbai, there was no place for an actor like me. People would laugh at me when I would tell them that I had done Bandit Queen. Manoj further reminded the host Sachin Khedeakr about his then-popular show 'Imtehan.' He added, "Sachin Khedekar was so popular and a big name at that time. Everybody was doing their best. Opportunities were less too. There were a few TV channels too, still, we came a long way." (PC - Screenshot from the site)

"They rejected me saying I am not up to the mark"

I dreamt of taking admission in the National School of Drama from the age of 12. I had immense love for drama, and I used to study the entire day. I was rejected when I first gave my entrance exam, and it felt like my life has been destroyed. I was in huge depression. My friends helped me to come out of it. Next year, I tried again for the entrance and got rejected again, but I kept working in other dramas. Next year I decided to give the exam again and got rejected again. Then I again went for 4th attempt, and they rejected me, saying I am not up to the mark. At the same time, I was doing theater so aggressively. This experience taught me one thing that rejection never defines you. We should not feel like our life has been destroyed after rejection because your life actually starts from there. Always remember, if one door gets closed, the second door opens, and you should keep trying to open that second door. Also, while opening the second door, many other doors which were invisible also opens. I have experienced in my life that no matter how many times you fail; God always surprises you with his blessings. (PC - Screenshot from the site)

Funny moments of Manoj Bajpayee's father

Manoj Bajpayee revealed on the show that his father has pure love for films. Sharing a funny story, Manoj said, "My father wanted to see how does a heroine lookz offscreen. By the way, he will kill me if he sees this show (he laughs). I was shooting for a film, 'Shool' with Raveena Tandon. There was a crowd at our shoot location, and I saw my dad in the crowd. I went to him and asked what you are doing here? He said, nothing, you do your work, and I am just watching. Then the other person who was with my dad said, "Aap jaiye Manoj, wo Raveena Tandon ko dekhna hai..Aap apna kaam kariye..Dekhne dijiye unko" (He laughs). My father loves watching movies." Reminiscing Satya memories

Manoj Bajpayee's Bhiku Mhatre character from Satya has won many hearts. Recalling the memories, he said, "When I was playing Bhiku Matre in Satya, I observed many things because people in Mumbai speak differently, and I did not have that accent. So I decided to talk more with my servant, who was a proper Mumbaikar. I used to talk a lot with her on various topics. My character Bhiku Mhatre needed that kind of accent. Basically, my servant taught me how I should speak Marathi and the dialogues with Mumbai style. I wanted to surround myself with Marathi's environment. I kept myself like this for a month. I still remember my dialogue from Satya "Mumbai ka king kaun Bhiku Mhatre" (PC - Instagram)

Love for Marathi language

I feel Marathi language has a different rhythm and tone. I have also observed that Marathi is a language of Maharashtra, but people from Mumbai speak differently, people who live in Pune have a different tone, Kolhapur has a different tone. I love how the same language changes the tone in every district of Maharashtra. (PC - Screenshot from the site)

Bestest compliment Manoj Bajpayee ever received in life

The host Sachin Khedekar asked Manoj about the best compliment that he ever received in life. He shared, "I was at an airport, and a person who was around 60 years old sat beside me. He told me he has watched my film Shool. I asked him how it was, and he said he got disturbed after watching the film. He asked me from where we got the villain. I told him he is a famous actor from Maharashtra and his name is Sayaji Shinde. He appreciated me for my work. He told me that he could feel my sweat of mine in a scene. He was feeling me. His comment touched my heart and I still have not forgotten this compliment". (PC - Screenshot from the site)

"Utilised Sachin Khedekar's skills in a film"

Praising Kon Honaar Crorepati host Sachin Khedekar's acting skills, Manoj said, "Sachin was doing a TV show long back. He used to work with his eyes a lot while performing. I observed this. Honestly, but I recently wrapped up the shoot of a film and utilised Sachin Khedekar's skills in my film. All credit goes to him". (PC - Screenshot from the site)

Journey from Satya's Bhiku Mhatre to Family Man's Shrikant Tiwari

Sachin Khedekar praised Manoj Bajpayee for his work and journey in the industry and asked him how he still looks the same all these years. Replying to him, Manoj said, "I live life with a strict discipline. Mumbai never sleeps, and I have seen the same for many years. But I made my life more disciplined. My grandfather used to sleep early. I have been following my grandfather's diet since then. Still, my family sleeps early, by 9 pm. Also, I feel our digestion system works slow when we age. I do follow proper eating habits, exercise. I get up by 4.30 am and do my yoga and medication. I run a lot. That's it. I don't do much. Believe me (He laughs) (PC - Instagram)
