Star Singer: Shivapriya stuns with 'Nenjil Kanchabanam', KS Chithra says, "If SPB sir was here, he would have loved it'
In the recent episode, Shivapriya set the stage on fire with her power-packed rendition of the evergreen Malayalam song Nenjil Kanchabanam, originally sung by late singer SP Balasubrahmanyam. From the improvisations to the unparalleled energy, she nailed the performance. Soon after the performance, yet another surprise awaited the audience. Shivapriya revealed that the English lyrics and the improvisations in the song were done by none other than mentor Swetha Ashok.
"I am awestruck by the performance. I am sure that if SPB sir was here, he would have loved it. You proved that one can experiment with their voice in such a unique way. That octave shift was too good," judge KS Chithra lauded Shivapriya. The legendary singer also congratulated Swetha for her brilliant additions to the song.
"Shivapriya, you are an extraordinary talent. You made sure to leave your signature in every line. If you had got evicted earlier due to the issues, it would have been the biggest loss for Star Singer. You are both an intelligent and brilliant singer," judge Sithara Krishnakumar said.
Judge Vidhu Prathap added that none of the improvisations done by the contestant felt odd in the song.
Along with the excellent comments, KS Chithra also gave the much-awaited Golden Star to Shivapriya. Notably, it is the 8th Golden Star for the contestant.
In the previous round, Shivapriya managed to win a Golden Star with her energetic performance in the 'Move It with Improvisation' round.
Star Singer continues to win hearts with the mesmerizing performances of the contestants. In the previous episodes, contestants Swarna and Gayathri got evicted from the competition. Currently, eight contestants are competing for the grand prize.
