'Mr & Mrs' fame Aparna on challenges of hosting a reality show: Jeeva advised me to accept my mistakes and not sulk about them

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Keralam fame Jeeva Joseph's wife and social media influencer, Aparna Thomas became the favourite of Malayalam telly audience within a brief time. Due credits to her charm and striking chemistry with hubby and co-host Jeeva in 'Mr & Mrs', the show is also whole-heartedly accepted by the audience.

In an exclusive chat with ETimes-TV, Aparna shared her initial fears of hosting a reality show, about Jeeva, her biggest support system and more...

It is not my first show

When Aparna entered the show 'Mr & Mrs' as the host, it was considered as her debut show on TV. However, Aparna has clarified that she started her TV career in 2013.

"I started my anchoring career hosting the film review show, 'Cine Talkies'. Then I had done some music on-demand shows. Until the day I got selected as a cabin crew, which was my biggest dream in life, I enjoyed my life as a VJ," she shared.

I was nervous at first

Aparna added that it is her first experience of a reality show, which left her anxious in the initial days.

"I was so nervous during the initial days of shoot. My biggest fear was co-hosting the show with my husband, who has already established himself as a good anchor. Also, the judges Govind Padmasoorya and Divya Pillai have a huge fan base. I was anxious whether I would reach their levels and entertain the audience," she opened up.

Why worry when my Mr Right is beside me

Even though she has all sorts of initial fears about hosting the show, Aparna shared that she was confident as her husband was next to her.

"All credits to Jeeva; he is the one who is motivating me in every step. When I got the offer to host the show, I told him that I don't think I can pull it off. From that moment to the last schedule, he made me so comfortable and helped me overcome all my fears. Jeeva is a complete entertainer, what I need to do is support him as his Mrs. However, I am happy with the comments I got for the first episodes. People are asking me to be more energetic to cope up with my prince charming, I am so proud as a wife to hear it and the co-host in me has to pull up my sock. Still, why should I worry, when I have my Mr next to me. He was my first co-anchor when I started my career, now he is my better-half and we are doing a couple shows, no words can explain the magic," Aparna chuckled.

The viral couple

'Mr & Mrs' is a couple-based reality show, which features 8 real-life couples, who are popular on social media. Aparna shared that all the couples are so competent that she feels energetic being around them, "In most of the reality shows, the participants will mostly be freshers. But, here we have an experienced lot, who very well know how to showcase their talent and they don't have any stage fear. It is a boost for me also."

'GP is our pillar'

Talking about judge Govind Padmasoorya, Aparna said that he is the strongest pillar of the show.

"I love the chemistry between Jeeva and GP, they make a great combo. At first, I asked the GP how he is going to judge a couple-based show when he is a bachelor himself. GP quipped that he is also afraid that wherever he looks, there are couples around him," she laughed.

'Hopefully, everything will be back to normal soon'

When asked about shooting amidst COVID-19 regulations, Aparna shared that the team is adhering all the precautions. But, she opened up that she is missing the spirit of the large group.

"I have been to the sets of 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' before. I was marvelled at the spirit there. The audience, large crew, it was a whole different mood. I miss that here. Even the family members of our contestants can't make it to the sets. Hopefully, everything will be back to normal soon," Aparna said.
