Former Bigg Boss Malayalam 4 contestant Kutty Akhil: When some of the celebrated friendships broke in nasty ways, it feels great to cherish our ‘Sukhil Family’

Comedian Kutty Akhil had surprised everyone with his entry in Bigg Boss Malayalam 4. The strong contestant, who aced most of the tasks, unfortunately, left the house early. But, he is still loved for his hilarious moments in the show and the bond with Suchithra and Sooraj. Recently, in an exclusive chat with ETimes TV, Akhil took a walk down memory lane about his Bigg Boss days…

Akhil, who became a household name with his comedy skits in ‘Comedy Stars’, shared that he decided to enter Bigg Boss to prove himself.

“Bigg Boss is absolutely a unique experience. It is never like anything you see from the outside. Initially, when I got the opportunity to contest in the show, I was skeptical just like anyone. However, when I give it a thought, I realized that it is a great platform to showcase myself. People always loved me for my reel characters, it was a chance to prove myself to them. I was sure that this will take my career to the next level and I never wanted to miss it. I was always a group player, be it a skit or any game show, there was always a team to support. Bigg Boss was the first platform where I could play alone and impress people so that experience is special,” he said.

“I don’t regret entering the show. I didn’t enter the show to come out as a winner. I only had one wish in mind, no one should say that I was a waste of a contestant. Soon I came out of the show after 77 days, many people said that they expected me in the finale, I take that as my biggest success,” he shared.

Talking about life after the reality show, Akhil said that he feels blessed with each of the opportunities that came his way.

“Now, I am co-hosting the prestigious show, ‘Star Singer’. Years before, I tried my best to enter the floor just to watch the then stars, Somadas, Joby, and Sreenath. But unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Now, hosting the same show feels surreal to me. Though I had acted in some movies earlier, after Bigg Boss, the makers start putting my face on the poster. Now, I am reaching my biggest dream of building a house, and undoubtedly, it is Bigg Boss that made it all possible for me,” Akhil added.

Bigg Boss Malayalam 4 had many friendships to celebrate and one among them was between Akhil and Sooraj. Talking about his bond with the former inmate, Akhil shared that Sooraj is just like a brother to him now.

“There is not even a single day we don’t talk. My call log will always have his number. I have three brothers, now I will say I have four, including him. I didn’t know him much when I entered the BB house. Yes, we were in the same industry, so we were known to each other. That familiarity leads to a friendship and now that bond is something I cherish. Though people criticized that it was part of the game, wholeheartedly I can say, I never faked my friendship,” he said.

Bigg Boss Malayalam 4 was one of the most controversial seasons ever and there were many disputes that crossed the rules of the show too. Talking about the same, Akhil shared that it was hard to survive during the huge fights though he was not involved in any of them.

“I know that people expect you to fight in the Bigg Boss house. But, I never felt the disputes for extra sugar or unclean toilet needed my violent reaction. However, I was criticized for my reaction during Robin’s expulsion after attacking Riyas. Well, I stood by what I saw in front of me. I didn’t see Jasmine spraying the insect repellent to the toilet, but I witnessed Robin pushing or slapping Riyas. So, when Bigg Boss asked my opinion, I said that letting someone who physically attacked an inmate in the house is dangerous. If the person is not punished, the next day, I can also assault someone, someone might attack me too. At that time, I found it to be the best opinion and I stand by it,” he stated.

Along with his bond with Sooraj, Akhil’s friendship with actress Suchithra was also celebrated by fans. Though there were many linkup rumors about the duo, Akhil clarifies that they are great friends.

“When I was doing ‘Comedy Stars’, Suchithra used to come there as a guest. She was the lead actress in ‘Vanambadi’ and everyone adored her. But, I had some dislike for her then. I never felt like going and talking to her. I even mocked her during the skits. However, everything changed after getting to know her. It was surprising to know that she also felt the same about me initially. Now we are great friends,” Akhil said.

When asked about his reactions to the wedding rumors, he said that both of them laugh at such reports.

“Initially, I was upset that people took our friendship in such a way. But, after a while, we started sharing such news links and laughing at them. I don’t know why people and online media are keen on getting us married. Now, we are happy that people have started giving us positive comments. When most of the celebrated bonds from the house ended in nasty ways, it is a blessing that we are able to cherish ours,” he shared.

“The best moment in Bigg Boss is getting the chance to be the captain three times. Thinking that the house was under my control for about 21 days is indeed a pleasure. Though it is not a happy memory, Sooraj’s reaction when I left the house shattered me. I will never forget that. My birthday! The ace actor of India, Mohanlal, wished me my birthday and I celebrated it with the team, that’s one of the best too,” he concluded.
