Exclusive - BB Malayalam 3's Lekshmi Jayan: I had inferiority complex about not having a pretty face

Bigg Boss Malayalam 3 recently had its first elimination. Singer Lekshmi Jayan got evicted from the show. Albeit spending only two weeks inside the house, the Star Singer fame managed to win a million hearts. From being called a 'crybaby' by co-contestants to revealing about her broken marriage in the show, Lekshmi's short journey was a mix of emotions. In an exclusive chat with ETimes TV, the former contestant spoke about her best and worst times in the house, criticism and about that one person, who is happy about her eviction. Excerpts...

'My son is the only one who was excited about my eviction'

The first thing my son told me was, 'Abba, I prayed for your eviction'. He is the only person in the world to be happy about my eviction (laughs).

'I went inside prepared for 100 days'

Guess I was the only contestant who packed my luggage for 100 days. As I didn't have anyone to get me things every week, I made extra investment and bought everything for 100 days.

I'm upset that I couldn't meet the expectations

It was one of the biggest opportunities of my life. It feels like I lost it without even grabbing it fully. I am also upset that I couldn't meet the expectations of the people who sent me into the house. I also think, if I was a bit cute or had better support outside, I would have stayed longer.

Three reasons to enter Bigg Boss

I had faced many ups and downs in my life. So, I wanted to be a positive influence in someone's life if I can be. Everyone knew that I existed but I was never a familiar face. I wanted to use the popularity for my career. The ongoing COVID-19 crisis was a problem; I thought why not use the exposure. On the personal side, the woman who was much dependent on her mother wanted to be out of her comfort zone to check whether she can handle life.

'I cried about my personal life'

I haven't cried inside the house complaining that someone insulted me or cornered me. I cried about my personal life. I was the only person who entered the house leaving a mother and a son at home. I was the sole breadwinner of my family/ So, I was worried about them every second. I only cried when I spoke about my mother or my son, it was because, whenever I thought about him, the only image I could think of was his emotional face when I made the last video call to him. His question, 'Abba, so you won't call me hereafter' was lurking in my mind always. I was never fake, this is what the real Lekshmi is. My eyes well up whenever I talk about my loved ones.

'I had an inferiority complex about not having a pretty face'

I admit that I was a lazy person before entering the show and confessed it too. But, I was happily doing every household chore in the BB house as I had the urge to learn new things. No one can ever complain that I didn't work. There were days when I cleaned the entire house, did dishes for hours together. None can call me a slacker. Yes, there was a day when I was down with diarrhea and that day I took full rest but even that day I didn't skip my work. I didn't highlight what I did, maybe that was my flaw. Another accusation against me was I was concentrating only on make-up. I agree that I had an inferiority complex that my face is not pretty, so I was a bit camera conscious. But, I never skipped my chores.

'I never intended to insult anyone'

I never intended to insult anyone regarding their food intake. Everyone needs good food to be active in the house. I used the term 'Vaya Neettuka' to convey the same, but it got misinterpreted. My point was, someone who knows cooking must be in the kitchen team.

'I never wanted to share about my divorce'

I never wanted to share about my divorce in the house. But, Bhagyalakshmi forced me to do it. I didn't want to accuse someone who is not present there and gain sympathy. They confronted me about not letting my ex-husband meet my child, I have my reasons for that. I didn't want to give my son a hard time, let him decide once he is grown up. I regret sharing it in the show.

'Manikuttan is the strongest'

Manikuttan is the strongest contestant in the show. The way he takes every task to the next level is amax. I feel that the winner of such a show should be genuine, someone whom we can look upto and Manikuttan is one such person.

'Sympathy shouldn't be the factor to support a contestant'

Sympathy shouldn't be a reason to support any contestant. There might be people who come from a financially unstable family or someone who has health issues, but once they enter the show, their performance should be the criteria. Don't support them based on their background but how good a player they are.
