From Magalu Janaki to Bayasade Bali Bande: Kannada TV shows going off-air post-lockdown

The on-going lockdown is taking a heavy toll on lives. The crisis has also brought uncertainty in many sectors and the entertainment industry is not an exception. Shooting is on halt since March. Eventually, this has lead the channel authorities to take a major decision in shutting down some of their shows abruptly. Here is a list of TV shows which concluded it's journey abruptly during the lockdown period.

T N Seetharam, the maker of the show announced on his social media handle about the show concluding its journey. Stating that the channel airing the show has temporarily shut till October, the maker also added in his post that the show will end its journey with fresh episodes, which was shot earlier. He also thanked all the viewers for lending their support towards the show.

The show was said to be one of the much-anticipated daily soaps on Kannada television. In fact, it had recently completed one year of a successful run. The story revolves around two people (a lawyer and film producer) who have different lifestyles. The differences between the two contrasting personalities made the narrative of Bayasade Bali Bande quite appealing to viewers.

Although the show had been airing fresh episodes for a while now, the news of the show going off-air has indeed left fans in a shocking state. Fans have been constantly sharing their disappointment over the show going off-air on various social media platforms. As per the previous TRP charts, Satyam Shivam Sundaram was one of the top ten daily soaps of Kannada television.

A close source from the makers revealed that the decision of the show going off-air was taken by the channel authorities and not them. However, the actual reason is yet to be revealed. On the other hand, a new show from the same team is likely to be awaited soon.

Actor Mithun Tejasvi, who played the role of a loving father in the show 'Ranganayaki' to spoke about the show coming to an end during the lockdown phase. "Ranganayaki was a very good serial. Initially, it was scoring well on the TRP charts. But unfortunately, things did not fall in place. There was a drastic dip in terms of TRP. So, concluding the show was bound to happen," he said.

Kannada daily soap Subbalakshmi Samsaara, which narrates the story of a typical Indian housewife went off-air recently. While the show is having an abrupt ending, the director on her social media revealed, "Every story has to have a happy ending. Likewise, Subbalakshmi Samsaara also has one. While Shanaya (antagonist) betrays Garry (male protagonist, the latter understands the worth of his wife and reunites with her."

While a close source revealed that the reason behind ending the show abruptly is due to the lack of viewership, an official confirmation from the makers or the channel airing the show has not been disclosed anywhere.

Popular Kannada suspense thriller Devyani concluded it's journey abruptly. The show became one of the most loved serials on Kannada television right after its launch. The serial had managed to win a million hearts with its visual brilliance, unique and compelling storytelling.

The show, which narrates the story of two individuals with contrasting luck brought together by destiny, concluded it's journey in mid-way. This has been a shocker for fans as it was one of the most-watched daily soaps in Kannada television.

The show, which marked the comeback of veteran actress Hema Chowdary, also went off-air lately. The story of Nayaki revolves around Suryavardha who makes money through illegal means and wants to live a lavish life. Based on the advice of an astrologer, he orders his henchman to kill a girl (Nayaki of the serial) who is the real owner of all the property.

Popular comedy serial Silli Lalli, which returned to the small screen with its second season, also came to an end. The story revolved around Vittal Rao, a doctor, his family, and the struggles in their day-to-day lives. One or more of the family members often encounter a problem and the family works together to solve it.

Daily soap Bhoomi Thaayane, which went on air in last October, ended abruptly. The serial was directed by Raghu Charan who had earlier directed serials like Milana and Pallavi Anu Pallavi.

This is one of the finest daily soaps which had managed to grab the attention of the viewers with its interesting storyline. The story is all about Arya, a widower agrees to remarry for the sake of his daughter, a mysterious figure reappears at his wedding venue claiming to be his wife, Seeta.
