Anupama Gowda takes a dig at viral engagement rumours, says, "We weren’t even invited!"
Kannada television host and actress Anupama Gowda has dismissed viral rumours about her alleged engagement and marriage to her close friend Raaghav, calling them baseless and misleading.
The speculation surfaced after Raaghav, a photographer and longtime friend, shared pictures with Anupama on social media while wishing her on her birthday. The images quickly went viral, prompting several pages to claim that the duo had gotten engaged and were planning to marry.
Reacting to the buzz, Anupama addressed the rumours on Instagram with her signature humour. “Raaghav and I ourselves don’t know about this engagement. We weren’t even invited!” she quipped, shutting down the claims.
The actress revealed that she had been receiving congratulatory messages from colleagues and well-wishers, which left her both amused and confused. “People started congratulating me on set and through messages. That’s when I realised something was being circulated online,” she said.
Calling out the misuse of her personal pictures, Anupama added, “These were just birthday photos, but some pages have used them to create false stories about my personal life.”
Taking a dig at those spreading misinformation, she sarcastically remarked, “If you’re going to make up stories, at least edit properly—maybe add a ring or something.” She further joked, “Wait for a couple of months and post a proper wedding story. It might get you more reach.”
While her response was laced with humour, Anupama also highlighted a serious concern about the spread of misinformation. “It’s surprising how quickly false news spreads and how easily people believe it,” she noted, indirectly pointing to the challenges celebrities face in protecting their privacy.
The popular television personality, who is currently hosting a reality show, has often spoken about her views on marriage. She has consistently maintained that it is a personal decision and that she is in no hurry to settle down.
With this clarification, Anupama Gowda has effectively put an end to the rumours, reiterating that her bond with Raaghav is purely one of friendship.
