You can’t pour from an empty cup: Mandira Bedi
Actress, host and fitness enthusiast Mandira Bedi believes that real self-love begins with kindness towards oneself and prioritising habits that nurture both mental and physical well-being.
Opening up about her journey, Mandira shares, “I look at myself as a fallible human being. I make mistakes. Things don’t always go the way I want them to. I think about how I can make it better next time, but I don’t dwell on it anymore. I don’t make myself a punching bag. Being kind to yourself is very important.”
For her, self-love also means consciously making time for activities that recharge her. “You can’t pour from an empty cup,” she says. “Everyone has different ways of filling that cup. For some, it’s meditation, yoga, reading a book, or simply taking time out for themselves. Me-time is essential.”
Mandira explains that fitness plays a key role in her life. “For me, it’s exercise. My kids know that my workout comes first in the day — it’s built into my schedule. Whether it’s a school morning or a late weekend, my exercise happens before anything else. It sets the tone for my entire day.”
