Urvashi Dholakia on raising her twins as a single mother and sending them to boarding school; says, “It wasn’t my decision”
Actress Urvashi Dholakia, who was recently seen on ‘The 50,’ opened up about her motherhood journey, raising her twins as a single mother, and much more. She spoke to Hauterrfly, where she revealed that sending her kids to boarding school wasn’t her decision but her mom’s.
“It was difficult. I had to send them to boarding school. It was my mother’s decision, not mine, by the way. She told me that instead of keeping them with me and giving them an undisciplined life, put them in a hostel to give them a disciplined life,” the actress said.
She shared that her mother also told her, “‘You will never be able to give them time, and they will get indisciplined. How long can the grandparents do it? Because they are also ageing.’ So, I had to agree with that. I used to feel so bad that we were getting separated. I used to cry every day of my life. The kids were not home. But then I realised I myself was not at home.”
Talking about her kids being disciplined, she shared, “My mother’s decision was absolutely bang on. My sons are disciplined. One of my sons cooks, and the other makes tea for me and does everything all household chores,” said Dholakia, 45.
Urvashi then opened up about how their father passed away in 2010. She even mentioned that her twins grew up around women and know how to live with them. “They have only grown up with women. They have seen it all. They know what it is to live with women. They have seen the hardships. So, they know,” said the actress.
On the work front, she is best known for her time on Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Naagin, and much more. She recently made an appearance on the reality show ‘The 50.’
