The Kapil Sharma Show fame Sumona Chakravarti to be seen in Bengali travel show ‘Shonar Bengal; a look at her TV and film journey so far

Sumona Chakravarti is touring all across West Bengal and will soon be seen in the Bengali travel show – Shonar Bengal. Adorning ethnic and traditional Bengali attires, Sumona looks in her elements in this new show. While for the majority of the part Sumona was seen testing her comic skills, the actress has done several TV shows in the past. Take a look at Sumona’s TV journey.

In this brand new travel show, Sumona Chakravarti sets out to explore the rich state of Bengal and discover its lesser-known stories and experiences. Throughout the show, she also offers viewers a glimpse into the diverse cultural destinations across literature, art, music, and community, through a 10-part series.

Sumona has been a part of Kapil Sharma’s show for the longest time. Playing the role of Bhoori, owner of Hotel Chill Palace to Sarla Gulati, Sumona has played various roles. She would also come in various get ups and entertain audiences with her dance acts at times. In the show, Sumona's big lips were often made fun of. The actress has always it sportingly and shares a great rapport with Kapil.

In Comedy Nights with Kapil, Sumona played the character of Manju Sharma, Bittu’s wife. Kapil would play Bittu in the 2013-16 comedy show. Their nok-jhok filled chemistry was loved by audience.

Ram Kapoor and Sumona played brother and sister on popular TV show, Bade Acche Lagte Hain. Sumona became a household name post the show’s success. Her role as Natasha was widely loved and noticed by all. This was her biggest breakthrough in TV.

While her first tryst with comedy was Kahani Comedy Circus Ki, Sumona was also a part of shows like Kasamh Se, Savdhaan India, Ek Thhi Naayka and Horror Nights. Sumona was also seen in detective show Dev.

She began her acting career at the age of 11 through the Aamir Khan and Manisha Koirala starrer Mann in the year 1999. She played the role of Neha. She was also seen in Salman Khan’s film Kick.

Sumona shares a special connection with Darjeeling as she shot for the Ranbir Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra-Ileana D’Cruz starrer film Barfi. After 10 years, she was back in Bengal to shoot for Shonar Bengal. In the film, Sumona played Shruti’s (Ileana) friend.
