Taarak Mehta actor Dilip Joshi receives threat of attack on house, here's looking at times he made headlines for his tiffs, banned dialogue and more

Dilip Joshi, who is loved as Jethalal in the sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, likes to keep his life away from the limelight. However, the actor still manages to remain in news for some reason or the other, owing to his massive popularity. Here's looking at times when he made headlines and caught everyone's attention.

Dilip Joshi's house was apparently under threat of attack. Reportedly, the Nagpur Control Room revealed that they received a call claiming the actor's residence at Shivaji Park was surrounded by 25 men with weapons and guns. The Shivaji Park Police Station was informed about the same and an investigation is underway.

Dilip Joshi and Raj Anadkat were cast as father (Jethalal) and son (Tapu) respectively. Dilip made headlines after there were reports of a showdown between them. Apparently, Raj Anadkat arriving late on the sets made Dilip Joshi upset and angry with him.

Dilip Joshi reportedly also had differences with Taarak Mehta aka Shailesh Lodha who left the sitcom last year. However, nothing of the sort was officially addressed. Rather while speaking to us about Shailesh's exit, Dilip said, "Like I said, change is inevitable. Thodi difficulty toh hoti hai of course as a rhythm is set with your co-stars, but never say never, Shailesh Bhai ab bhi sakte hain wapas.

After several such reports of his fights surfaced everywhere, Dilip Johi finally decided to speak up. He told ETimes TV last year, "We have been working together for 13 years now. When people talk about a rift, I just laugh it off. Just because someone wants to write something to grab eyeballs on social media, they cook up a story. I don't even feel like clarifying things now or stating that all is well. We are a great team, which is why the show is doing so well. I am comfortable working with my co-actors and the entire team. That is probably why I have not thought about doing anything else. My character and my team keep me going."

Dilip's character Jethalal has delivered several popular lines and punches over the years. One of them was 'Ae, pagal aurat (crazy woman)'. In a podcast, Dilip revealed how the line was born spontaneously on set but some from the women's liberation movement objected to it and asked him to not repeat the dialogue again. He clarified though that the intent was not serious and it was meant to be taken lightly. He said, "Haalanki woh kisi ko neecha dikhane jaisa nahi tha (It was not meant to be demeaning), it was said in a lighter note. But I think some people took it in a wrong way and didn’t like it."

Even though Dilip Joshi likes to keep his personal life away from the public eye, Dilip shared his daughter Niyati Joshi's wedding photos on Instagram. While several blessed her for the new phase in her life, there were others who noticed his daughter's grey hair. There were some who trolled her but then there were others who praised her for embracing her greys.

Dilip Joshi is now known for playing the role of Jethalal in Taarak Mehta and has won several awards for his performance. But he made headlines after his refusing the role to the makers when they first approached him became public knowledge. Dilip was then offered to play either Jethalal or Champaklal (Jetha's father).
