Sumeet Sachdev on returning to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, says, 'I'm reliving my memories from my initial days as an actor'
Actor Sumeet Sachdev, most widely recognized for his iconic portrayal of Gautam (Gomzy Virani) in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, has made a nostalgic comeback in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2. The actor, who is currently seen playing Aniruddha Bose in Jhanak, has reprised his beloved role of Gautam Virani—this time appearing as a lawyer.
Opening up about returning to the show that defined a large part of his career, Sumeet says, “Returning back to the show is just like getting back to my home and reliving my memories from my initial days as an actor. My hands are pretty full with Jhanak right now, but Kyunki is very close to my heart.”
Hinting at what audiences can expect from Gomzy’s presence, he adds, “Whenever I do come in, I’m hoping it’ll add a little more drama to the story—especially with the mother–son tension everyone loved watching, and which I extremely loved doing. So yes, expect some sparks whenever I’m around. This show shaped so much of my journey as an actor, so there’s a lot of emotion attached to it.”
Reuniting with Tulsi Virani, played by Smriti Irani, was equally special for him. “With Smriti, the vibe was exactly the same—effortless and familiar. Time had passed, of course, but the comfort, the mutual respect, that instant understanding… it was all still there. We just picked up from where we’d left off, like no time had gone by,” he shares.
Talking about his current storyline, Sumeet remains tight-lipped but intrigued. “At the moment, Gomzy is clearly shown as being alone, with no one in his life. He underlined that while confronting Tulsi. But having said that, this is Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi—and the story can take unexpected turns," he says.
Apart from Kyunki and Jhanak, Sumeet Sachdev has also been part of shows like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Karam Apnaa Apnaa, Khwaish, Aye Dil Jee Le Zara and Chashni.
